The CDC is locked in a power struggle with key states and agriculture players as it tries to better track the virus and prevent another potential pandemic.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is at odds with state officials and the dairy industry over its on-the-ground response to the avian flu outbreak spreading among dairy cows, complicating President Joe Biden’s efforts to track and contain a virus that has the potential to sicken millions of people.

Many farmers don’t want federal health officials on their property. State agriculture officials worry the federal response is sidelining animal health experts at the Agriculture Department, and also that some potential federal interventions threaten to hinder state and local health officials rushing to respond to the outbreaks.

Wall Street Journal report revealed the bank’s involvement in a $653 million drug money-laundering scheme. The bank’s anti-money laundering program “fell short and did not effectively monitor, detect, report or respond.” 

“With the bank allegedly a focal institution in a drug money-laundering scheme, the worst-case scenario has become more likely with TD potentially entering a lost decade,” Aiken told clients, adding, “Growth in the US will likely be constrained, and the timeline for a fix is extended by several years.”

The trading and price action in gold and especially silver is following what I posted on Friday and is extremely positive. The charts and the previous action I described last week, told us we would be moving higher this week.

Don’t be fooled by the geopolitical happenings in the Mideast. Yes, they are important, to a certain extent, but are NOT the main reason for the metals positive behavior. That is what they are using as an excuse and to deflect from the growing demand for both metals.

If we get the long anticipated invasion of Rafah, it probably will accelerate the upside moves and contribute to spikes, that will allow the bankers to also have steep selloffs along the way. Don’t let that shake you out of this next upside move.

The key to watch will be if new highs are made in gold and if silver finally breaks out and closes above $30, with a meaningful follow thru. Get right and sit tight.

The head of the Iranian cyber police unit has introduced new measures to crack down on online activities that reportedly contravene Islamic, social, and cultural norms

The latest measure will monitor the behavior of Iranian people in the digital realm, singling out anything that may be viewed as “moral and cultural offenses” by the regime.

This move is largely seen as a continuation of the authorities’ renewed crackdown on women’s hijabs, dubbed “Plan Noor.” The so-called morality police have resumed their aggressive practices on the streets since April 13, targeting women refusing to cover their hair.

Vahid Majid, the Cyber Police Chief, detailed that the crackdown would target individuals involved in streaming “obscene” live content, producing “vulgar” materials, and engaging in online modeling.

A professor and biochemist with 35 years of research experience in the areas of genomics, lipid nanoparticles, and RNA has been fired from Quebec City’s Université Laval over his criticisms of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The most recent chapter in the ‘green’ initiative has been supermajor Shell being found to have sold ‘phantom’ carbon credits that were twice the volume of emissions the company actually avoided, according to FT.

Shell has reportedly sold millions of carbon credits, tied to CO? removal, to Canada’s main oil sands companies, despite doubts arising over the validity of the claimed emissions reductions.

Keith Stewart with Greenpeace Canada commented: “Selling emissions credits for reductions that never happened?.?.?.?literally makes climate change worse.”

Ryan Taylor Nichols, a Marine Corps veteran and disaster-rescue specialist who argued that post-traumatic stress drove his behavior at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, was sentenced on May 2 to more than five years in prison and fined $200,000 for assaulting police and obstruction of an official proceeding.

Mr. Nichols, 33, of Longview, Texas, was ordered by U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth to serve 63 months behind bars and fined $200,000—the lion’s share of the $237,708 raised on a GiveSendGo page set up for his legal and household expenses.

It was the largest fine issued in a Jan. 6 criminal case.

Judge Lamberth also ordered Mr. Nichols to serve 36 months of supervised release and pay $2,000 in restitution.
